Member Spotlight: Taut of Bury Me Baubles

Welcome to Art Dolls Only's Member SPOTLIGHT! ADO shares an article focusing on it's members on the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th of each month! (February's 30th installment will share on the 28th)

Today's member spotlight is Taut of Bury Me Baubles. Taut lives in the San Francisco Bay area of California.

What kind of Art Dolls do you create?

Striving for biodegradable bioregenerative art dolls.

What is your primary medium?

Creative Paperclay, but I would like to find/create a medium that would be more biodegradable/bio regenerative. I'm currently looking into homemade cold porcelain and paper clay from paper pulp.

How long have you been a doll maker?

I began in the winter of 2011, but I remember creating my own figurines since I was in the third grade out of plastic grocery bags (my family couldn't quite keep up with all of us kids breaking and destroying our toys).

How did you get your start in doll making?

In 2011, I was creating political cartoons, and had intended to create marionettes/puppets of the political figures. Currently, its a good way to pay off some karmic debt...aka student loans.

Where did you learn to make dolls?

Observations from other artists' work.

Share a little about your first doll.

My first doll is probably lost in a landfill...but the first doll was pretty much a plastic bag.

What are your favorite materials to create with?

paperclay, paper, scrap material, recyclables,

What is your favorite supply to work with?

Scrap material

What does your work area look like?

A mess.

Do you have any doll artists that inspire you?

So many...
Scott Radke
Blackeyed Suzie
Tireless Artist
Loopy Boopy
Steve McQueen

What is your favorite venue to share your work?

What are you currently working on?

Finishing up first series of Bury Me Baubles (need to do D, X, Y, and Z) and working on male forms for Taut/Thoth, St Joseph, St Peter, Death, Devil, and Plague Dr.
